Emergency road works in town centre

EMERGENCY road works will start in Warrington town centre tonight following the discovery of a major cable fault below a busy junction.
Temporary traffic lights will be installed at the junction of Scotland Road and Buttermarket Street when works start at 7pm.
A borough council spokeswoman said the authority was only notified this afternoon that Scottish Power had a major, 33kv fault in the centre of the carriageway at the junction.
Work will start at 7pm to minimise traffic disruption – but it is expected to last until Friday.
The existing traffic lights will be turned off and replace by manually operated, three-way lights.
