Councillor's night on the beat

A SENIOR councillor found a night on the beat with Warrington police a real “eye opener.”
Deputy leader of the borough council Mike Hannon joined police on the beat to see how they keep the town centre safe on a busy night for festive revellers.
He said: “It was a real eye-opener shadowing the neighbourhoods’ police team on a Saturday night. I was extremely impressed with the way they co-ordinated and communicated as a team to handle the high number of people in the town and keep it in order.
“The team linked in with all relevant partners such as CCTV staff and security staff very effectively and handled incidents with complete professionalism when they did come up.”
Cllr Hannon said he found the experience useful and is planning a similar “night out” in the summer.
