WARRINGTON has picked up two awards for community sport in the annual Cheshire and Warrington Sports Partnership awards.
The Orford Park Project received the “Embrace the Games” award for its continuing work to create a tangible community legacy of the Olympic and Paralympic spirit.
This award followed on from the project gaining the prestigious Inspire Mark status.
The other award was to Philip Eastham, who was named Volunteer of the Year for his outstanding work promoting and developing girls’ football and football for all, as well as his fundraising activities.
Cllr Kate Hannon, Warrington Borough Council’s executive member for leisure, community and culture, said: “I was delighted to pick up the Embrace the Games Award which is testament to the hard work that the council and partners have put in and I would like to congratulate all involved.
“The Orford Park Project is already benefiting the whole community and creating a legacy we can all be proud of. My additional congratulations go to Philip Eastham for his well deserved Volunteer of the Year Award.”
