How to cut down on waste

AN awareness campaign designed to help people reduce waste at home gets under way at Warrington today.
The borough council’s waste minimisation and recycling team is spearheading European Week for Waste Reduction locally between today (Saturday) and November 27.
Members of the team have organised activities across the borough and are offering the public a tour of the new waste education centre facility on Monday afternoon (November 21).
They will also be visiting local schools throughout the week and undertaking targeted educational door stepping in Longford to help residents reduce waste and recycle more in the future.
Cllr David Keane (right), the council’s executive member for environment and public protection said: “We can all do our bit to reduce waste by home composting and using up left-over food. If we all made small changes to what we do with our waste we could make a massive reduction in the amount of waste that is sent to landfill every year in Warrington.”
