Council shows true grit

STOCKTON Heath Parish Council has changed its mind over an offer of free grit and snow shovels from the borough council this winter
Originally, councillors declined the offer – but after hearing a revised “winter resilience” scheme from the borough council, they have agreed to join in the initiative.
Five grit boxes will be placed in the village and will be re-filled by the borough council up to four times during the winter.
The majority of parish council across the borough originally turned down the offer – leading to the revised scheme.
Members were concerned that when the bins were sited there could be complaints from areas where there were none.
But they decided to play one in each ward of the parish and one outside the medical centre.
