Pub attack victim struck with iron bar

POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an assault in a Warrington town centre pub when a 51-year-old man suffered a wound which required 15 stitches after being struck in the face with an iron bar.
The incident took place on Sunday (November 6) at 5.30pm at the Ring O Bells Pub in Church Street.
The victim was drinking inside the pub when a man came into the pub with a woman.
The pair started drinking and chatting together at the bar with the victim. It is believed that an argument then started between the two men.
A short time later the offender went outside and returned to the pub with an iron bar. He then attacked the victim with the bar hitting him about the head and body and knocking him to the floor causing a serious wound to his face.
Customers, who were in the pub at the time, intervened and managed to stop the attack.
The offender then left the pub ? he is believed to have left with the woman in a red coloured car.
The victim sustained a wound to the right side of his jaw, which required 15 stitches, and bruising to his upper back and shoulders.
The offender is described as white, 6? tall, aged in his late 40s, of stocky build with short cropped light hair with grey in it. He was wearing a black coloured fleece top with a zipped front.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, knows the identity of the offender or has any information, which might assist with their enquiries, to get in touch.
Officers are also keen to speak to the woman who was inside the pub at the time.
She is described as white, in her 40s, around 4? 11″ tall, of slim build and was wearing a white cardigan, blue jeans and white trainers.
