Fans queue to see pop singer

HUNDREDS of fans queued from as early as 4am in Warrington town centre to pick up free tickets to see pop singer Peter Andre, according to Golden Square shopping centre publicists.
The 37-year-old (pictured) will switch on the lights on Friday, November 18 at a ticket-only event in the Old Market Place.
More than 2,500 tickets were given away in just under three hours with fans excited to get tickets to one of the first public performances by Andre since he damaged his vocal cords earlier this month.
One fan said: “I’ve been here since 6am but haven’t minded at all as the atmosphere was fantastic – I’m just so chuffed to get a ticket!”
People who were unable to secure tickets, the event will be broadcast a big screen in the town centre.
The proceedings will start at 5pm.
Ian Cox, marketing manager at Golden Square, said: “The response to our ticket giveaway on Saturday was completely jaw-dropping. These are the biggest queues we have ever seen for tickets to the Christmas Lights Switch on, so weknow it will be a fantastic event.”
Golden Square’s late night shopping season will launch the day before, Thursday, November 17, with stores staying open until 9pm every Thursday.
There will be free parking every Thursday after 4pm
A free Winter Music Festival will take place at the Old Market Place on Saturday, November 19.
