Health board to meet in public

WARRINGTON Health Consortium’s board – representing 28 GP practices across the borough and responsible for planning local NHS care – will meet in public for the first time tomorrow (Wednesday)
The 28 GP practices have been working together since the government announced its health reforms last year.
They will now be responsible for commissioning the majority of health services across Warrington.
From tomorrow, local people attending formal board meetings will be able to hear first-hand about the level of collaborative work being undertaken by the consortium to improve health outcomes for patients.
They will also find more about the work underway in preparation for when NHS Warrington, the Primary Care Trust, is formally abolished in April 2013.
Dr Andrew Davies, chairman of Warrington Health Consortium, said: “Although we’re not obliged to hold our board meetings in public, we feel it is important that our activities on behalf of Warrington patients are undertaken in an open and transparent manner. Local accountability is an important part of being an NHS organisation and adds real value to the work we do.”
Members of the public are invited to the meeting, which will take place at The Gateway, Sankey Street, from 1.45pm.
