EXCITING activities with an ethnic theme – including making African food and learning to play the country’s traditional drums – are planned by a youth club in Warrington.
Bewsey Youth Club has a range of activities planned including learning about and taking part in Diwali (a Hindu festival of light) celebrations.
The club runs on Tuesdays and Wednesday from 6-9pm in Bewsey Park Pavilion and is open to young people aged 13-19. There are about 30 members and newcomers are welcome.
During the past few months the club has been busy with youngsters gaining awards in topics including word skills, rock climbing and leadership skills. Members have also started a youth forum and taken part in residential weekends.
Cllr Colin Froggatt, the borough council’s executive member for children and young people’s services, said: “It is fantastic to see Bewsey Youth Club is going from strength to strength.
“I would like to congratulate the young people involved on all their achievements to date and wish them every success in the future.’
