Fantastic sports award ceremony

MORE than 50 guests and nominees were present at the annual Warrington Sports Awards ceremony, which recognises the excellence of local athletes, volunteers and clubs and the dedication and motivation of all the nominees.
There were guest appearances by two of Warrington’s sporting stars, hurdler Abi Fitzpatrick and wheelchair fencer Adrian Derbyshire, who have both represented Great Britain and were both winners in last year’s awards.
Leader of Warrington Borough Council, Cllr Terry O’Neill, said: “The annual sports awards is always a fantastic event and I was delighted to be there to see Warrington’s sporting heroes get the recognition they deserve. I’d like to congratulate all the nominees and winners and wish them every success in the future.”
All winners will now represent Warrington at the annual Cheshire and Warrington Sports Awards on Wednesday November 16.
The winners in each of the categories were:
Young Sports Volunteer: Reece Tomlinson (Fiddler’s Ferry Sailing Club)
Sports Volunteer of the Year: Phil Eastham (Crosfields JFC)
Special Recognition: Warrington Integrated Sports Club
Disabled Sports Achiever: David Musson (Warrington Wolves Charitable Foundation)
Coach of the Year: Nigel Johnson (Burtonwood Bulldogs & England Ladies RL)
Club of the Year: Burtonwood Bulldogs RLC
