Youth cafe to open soon

WORK has started on Warrington’s long-awaited town centre youth cafe and it is expected to open in a few weeks.
The former Carphone Warehouse building in Time Square is being transformed into a social “hub” for young people.
It will offer local young people a safe place to meet friends, join in activities and get information and advice.
A formal opening event will be held on Friday December 2 for those who have helped to create the venue. Then the following day it will open to all for a fun day.
Leader of Warrington Borough Council Cllr Terry O’Neill said: “I am very pleased that this project will soon become a reality and look forward to visiting the café soon to see the final product. I know our young people are looking forward to it opening and I share their enthusiasm.”
A young people’s stakeholder group has been meeting over the last few months to set out the priorities and design of the café and they recently visited the site to check progress.
On Friday December 16 the inaugural event, an acoustic Christmas-themed night, will be held.
