Kite making
A KITE-making workshop takes place at Holy Trinity Church, Warrington, today (Saturday) as the Warrington Amnesty Group highlights the fact that women and girls in Afghanistan are excluded from the popular pastime of kite flying. The event starts at 10.30am and continues until 2.30pm.

Hospital lottery
WINNING numbers in the weekly lottery run by the League of Friends of Warrington Hospital were 8, 9, 12 and 16 – but no-one claimed the jackpot prize which will now be rolled over to next week. A £25 consolation prize was won by a member of hospta staff.

House extension
PLANS to demolish a single storey extension at a house in Lord Nelson Street, Howley, Warrington have been approved by planning chiefs to make way for a new, two-storey extension.

History talk
SPEAKER Michael Taylor will give a talk on the history of Thelwall at a meeting of the Warrington Archaeological and Historical Society at Friars Green Independent Methodist Church, Cairo Street, Warrington on Monday, starting at 7.30pm.

Planning approval
PLANNING chiefs at Warrington have given the go-ahead for a first floor extension at a house in Stanton Road, Thelwall, following demolition of an existing garage.
