Police appeal again over armed raid

POLICE at Warrington have renewed an appeal for information following an armed robbery at a post office on the outskirts of the town.
They are anxious to talk to anyone who may have been in the Glazebrook area on Monday, October 3, when two men entered the village post office, armed with a machete, and attacked the postmaster before grabbing cash from the till.
The raid was at around 12.30pm and the two thugs threatened an elderly woman customer while in the post office.
As a result the postmaster intervened – and suffered injuries to his hand when he was attacked.
The offenders fled the scene in a silver Volkswagen driven by a third man who was waiting outside. The car was later found abandoned outside Irlam Medical Centre on Liverpool Road.
Detectives are appealing for anyone who was in the area around the time of the robbery and who might be might be able to assist with their enquiries to get in touch. They would like to speak to anyone who might have seen the car involved.
Anyone with any information which might assist police with their enquiries, is urged to call Cheshire Police on 0845 458 0000. Information can also be left anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
Two men have been arrested in connection with the incident. Both men have been bailed pending further enquiries.
