A SERIOUS fire wrecked the kitchen of a house in Statham Avenue, Orford, Warrington after a chip pan left on the cooker overheated.
Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus used to hose reels to tackle the blaze and a ventilation unit was used to clear smoke from the property.
Firefighters also rescued a cat from the premises.
Smoke detectors – fitted earlier by the Fire Service – activated and led to the alarm being raised.
In a separate incident, firefighters were call to the skate park on Hallfields Road, Orford where an abandoned moped was on fire. They used one hose reel to extinguish the fire.
Fire crews were also called out by the police to two separate incidents where people were accidentally locked inside properties.
Two adults and three children were released from a first floor living room in Denver Road, Westy and a woman was released from a first floor flat in Church Street, Warrington.
