CULCHETH and Glazebury Parish Council has decided not to take advantage of an offer from the borough council for £1,000 worth of equipment – including shovels and grit – for “self help” snow clearing during the winter.
Cllr Keith Bland said: “We are all in favour of having more grit bins in the village, but we don’t have the resources to clear snow and ice, nor anywhere to store the equipment.
“We think this is a job for the borough council

  1. There’s never a shortage of public minded volunteers when extreme weather affects us all Geoff but picking up litter every day, that’s a completely different story as well you know.

I fully support Keith Bland in not wanting to waste money on a pile of shovels that everyone already has especially given there’s no place to keep them. All that’s needed is containers with salt in them, then if the council can’t get there, the public-spirited residents at least has some of the basics.

  2. There are far too many things that should be the responsibility of WBC that is either not done or suggested for volunteers. Time the Borough Council got its house in order and started to get to grips with these things. Seems the change of administration in May 2011 has simply not made any difference.

  3. I haven’t a clue what you’re on about Geoff but the forum’s a better place for doing debating. Putting anything here just makes work for the moderators and by tomorrow all this’ll be vanished.
