Supermarket plan put on hold

PLANS to widen the access road to a Warrington supermarket have been put on hold to allow time for talks between the firm and nearby residents.
People living near the Asda store at Westbrook have expressed concern that removal of an existing footpath will increase pedestrian safety issues and that the scheme has the potential to increase, rather than decrease, traffic congestion.
Local councillor Keith Gleave has also lodged objections on similar grounds and says plans presented to the planning committee are incorrect.
The scheme also involves provision of a right turn facility into the store’s petrol filling station.
Committee members decided to defer consideration of the scheme to allow talks between Asda and residents..
