Town sign ex-red as cover

WARRINGTON Town have swooped to sign former Liverpool U18s goal keeper Chris Oldfield as cover for the injured Paul Pritchard, who faces a month on the sidelines with ankle ligament damage.
Oldfield, who rose through the ranks at Liverpool, and in 2008 was the Anfield club’s U18’s keeper, impressing enough to earn a place in the reserves squad for a close-season tour of Holland, is expected to make his debut in Town’s home game against Harrogate Railway, tomorrow, Saturday, kick off 3pm.
He was released by Liverpool at the end of the 2009-10 season and spent the first half of that season on a short term contract with Rochdale, before deciding to sign for Bangor City in order to be able to pursue his personal career outside of professional football.
He left Bangor to go on trial at Aberdeen.
Warrington had signed the 20-year-old keeper in time for Tuesday night’s League Cup victory over Cammell Laird but could not play him as they were awaiting international clearance from the Welsh FA – who were all otherwise engaged at Wembley!
Youth keeper Dan Gordon, aged 16, stepped in and helped Town to a 4-2 victory.
