Hospital open day

BEHIND the scenes tours at Warrington Hospital – including operating theatres, maternity and catering – are being offered to the public.
The hospital is opening its doors for the first ever Hospital Family Open Day on Saturday September 17 from 12.30pm. It offers local people the chance to learn about the work of the hospital, get tips on health improvement and advice on how to make the most of hospital services.
There will be more than 50 stalls ranging from diabetes and stroke awareness to hospital catering, NHS careers and first aid for kids. Local companies will also have displays and there will be a children’s ride, face painting and local singers on hand to entertain.
The event runs until 3.30pm and parking is free for the afternoon in the main car park at the hospital.
When the event closes, the trust’s annual members’ meeting will commence in the lecture theatre in the Education Centre. This will include a brief presentation of the trust’s annual report and accounts for 2010-2011.
Chris Horner, from the hospital communications team, said: “We want to give local people the chance to come and learn a bit more about their hospital and their health so we’ve tried to create an open day that will let them do that. As well as meeting some of our staff and seeing the work that they do you can hopefully pick up some advice as well.”
Updates on activities on the day can be found on the hospital website www.warringtonandhaltonhospitals.nhs.uk
