Cyclist injured in hit and run

WARRINGTON police are appealing for witnesses after a 25-year-old woman cyclist was seriously injured during a hit and run incident on Tuesday September 6.
Police were called to a report of a collision on the A49 Fennel Street, Warrington, at the roundabout with Church Street and Mersey Street at around 5.30am.
A pedal cyclist was knocked from his bike by a car. Whilst lying on the roadside,the driver of the car got out and looked at the injured cyclist before driving away from the scene, leaving no details and failing to report the incident to Police.
The cyclist, who is a 25 year old local woman, received treatment at Warrington Hospital for head injuries and was later discharged.
Police are examining CCTV from the scene and witnesses are asked to contact PC Rick Hooley at Warrington Traffic Unit on 0845 458 0000 quoting incident 893 of 06.09.11. Similarly, police ask that the driver of the car come forward and speak to police as a matter of urgency.
