WARRINGTON Nature Conservation Forum hold their autumn meeting at Risley Moss Nature Reserve this Saturday September 10 when guest speaker will be Dr Paul Thomas – Natural England’s raised peat bog expert!
Dr Thomas has been involved in Risley Nature Reserve for about four years and is providing guidance on a re-wetting programme.
It is hoped, weather permitting, that he will lead members outdoors to show examples of the work in progress.
There will also be updates on all the activities, including recent planning applications that have impacted wildlife across Warrington.
This includes the impact of a proposed Flood Defence at Victoria Park, Knutsford Road.
Members will be invited to make suggestions which will be forwarded by the group to the Environmental Agency on how to mitigate the loss of the largest single concentration of Hornbeam (Beech) Trees in the Borough.
The agency has already built into their plans suggestions regarding to some species of animal.
The meeting starts at 10.30am and light refreshments and biscuits will be available.
