FIRE crews wearing protective clothing tackled a chemical spillage at Warrington.
The incident involved 200 litres of Topanol, a heating oil additive, at the premises of DHL Freight, Kingsland Grange, Woolston.
Works personnel were evacuated from the site and a cordon was set up at the company’s main gates while two firefighters wearing gas tight suits and breathing apparatus carried out an initial investigation.
Crews used absorbent granules to contain the spillage.
Following advice from the National Chemical Centre, crews made the area safe by absorbing the chemical and later handed the site back to works staff.
The cause of the spillage was described as “accidental.”
