WARRINGTON Town were brought back down to earth with a bump as they suffered a disappointing 0-2 home defeat to Curzon Ashton.
Town started brightly in front of a bumper crowd but failed to convert a couple of early chances including a Jamie Henders effort which struck the post. Meanwhile the visitors scored with their first real chance on 37 minutes when Christopher Mcdonagh headed home from a free kick, out jumping the Warrington defence from the edge of the six yard box.
Trailing 0-1 at the break Warrington failed to lift in a disappointing second half and Curzon when two up on 63 minutes when Kristian Dennis scored from another set piece.
Warrington never really looked like getting back into the game and looked a shadow of the team which hammered in five at Salford on Saturday.
The result was made even more disappointing as a special promotion offering free admission to all Warrington Wolves
season ticket holders doubled the normal home attendance to over 300 – the biggest league gate of the night by far.
Manager Joey Dunn will be hoping for an improved performance when Warrington take on Farsley Celtic at Cantilever Park on Saturday, kick off 3pm, followed by a trip to Skelmersdale next Tuesday, kick off 7.45pm.
