Free sport in the park!

MORE than 800 people have attended the first two days of a free multi-sport event at Warrington’s Victoria Park.
The Victoria Park Experience is taking place every Tuesday in August – there’s one on today! – and has proved extremely popular.
On offer are a range of activities including rugby, football, athletics, rowing, volleyball, BMX, Zumba, tri-golf, cricket, skateboarding, basketball, archery or tennis.
DJ and MC workshops, healthy food awareness and face painting are also on offer.
After today, there will be one more day – on Tuesday next week (August 23).
The success of the event means it will be run again next year when it will also include Orford Park.
Cllr Kate Hannon, the borough council’s executive member for leisure, community and culture, said: “This hugely successful event is a fantastic example of partnership working in Warrington and offers a great opportunity for people of all age groups, particularly young people, to try a range of sports and fun activities. I would like to thank the organisers for their hard work and I am sure this event will go from strength to strength in years to come.”
The event is organised by a wide range of partners working together including: the council, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service, Cheshire Police, Stronger Together, Latchford West Community Forum, Latchford Albion RLC, Warrington Town FC, Participation Through Sport, Warrington PCT, Positive Futures, Warrington Collegiate and Radio Warrington.

  1. A fantastic event which was started by two of our PCSO’s, Tom Reid and Tony Spruce.

Their commitment to give the young something to do and new things to try has made this event grow year on year. It is fast becoming a family day.

Get down to Victoria Park and enjoy the occasion.

  2. another great day today at VPX even when the rain came down, and a big thanks to all the volunteers who turn up each week and help make the event what it is

please feel free to turn up next tuesday and join in the fun
