TWO people were taken to hospital at Warrington after tackling a bedroom fire at their home.
One suffered burns to his arm and both suffered from smoke inhalation during the incident at a house in Thelwall Lane, Latchford.
Three fire engines – two from Warrington and one from Stockton Heath – were called to the scene and the blaze was extinguished by two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using a hose reel jet.
The cause is believed to have been candles which ignited a mattress.
In a separate incident, fire crews from Birchwood went to Daniel Close, Oakwood when fire broke out in a first floor bedroom of a semi-detached house.
The blaze was tacked with two hose reel jets. Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were involved and a ventilation unit was used to clear smoke from the property.
An electrical fault was blamed for the outbreak.
