POLICE at Warrington today issued an appeal for witnesses of an incident in which a 17-year-old girl was attacked and robbed.
The attack took place at Bennett’s Recreation Ground, Padgate at around 9pm on Monday, July 25.
Two men were involved, although only one apparently attacked the girl.
She was with a group of friends when she was approached by two men. One grabbed her mobile ‘phone from her hand and then pulled at her handbag.
The girl tried to hang on to her bag but the offender dragged her a few feet across the ground and she was forced to let go. The offender then made off, with the bag, onto the nearby recreation ground.
He is described as six feet tall, about 19-20 years-old, well built with large arms and shoulders. He had a shaved head, dark eyes and was clean shaven.
He spoke with a local accent and was wearing a long sleeved plain grey sweatshirt and grey jogging bottoms. He was also carrying two white carrier bags.
The victim suffered a cut to the inside of her top lip, a bruised top lip and a chipped tooth in the attack.
Anyone who witnessed the robbery or has any information which might assist with police enquiries is urged to call police on 0845 458 0000. Information can also be passed on anonymously, via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
