Music raises money for youngster

THOUSANDS of people attended Warrington Music Festival and helped raise funds for a local youngster with cerebral palsy.
Crowds gathered at the Old Marketplace, Golden Square shopping centre, to be entertained by bands such as Exile Parade, The Ambersons and The Stocks.
Shoppers in the centre got a treat with a day-long “busker-thon” for four-year-old Elliot Worsley who suffers from cerebral palsy.
More than £420 was raised to help Elliot go on a second trip for treatment at the Bobath Centre in London, which specialises in treating children and adults with cerebral palsy.
Elliot’s aunt, Laura Harrison said: “It was a fantastic day with crowds of people showing their support for Elliot. We had a brilliant time performing and everyone seemed to really enjoy it.
“Thank you so much to everyone who donated to Elliot- it all counts and with every penny you are making a big difference to a little boy’s life.”
The week leading up to the festival saw one of the region’s biggest-ever silent discos with more than 70 people “strutting their stuff” and two top secret gigs in Warrington.
Golden Square marketing manager Ian Cox said: “This year the festival was bigger than ever and it was excellent- there was some real musical talent out there for everybody to enjoy.
“Thanks to everybody that came along to the festival and to all the bands who put on a top show for us all.”
