More apprenticeships available

WARRINGTON South MP David Mowat has highlighted new figures showing a significant increase in the number of apprenticeships in his constituency.
A total of 930 new apprenticeship started in Warrington between August last year and April this year, compared to 840 in 2009/10 and 380 in 2005/6.
Skills Minister John Hayes recently announced recently that the Government was set to smash its target of delivering an additional 50,000 apprenticeship places nationally in its first year.
Across the country, apprenticeship starts increased by 114,000 and the coalition government has already announced funding for at least 250,000 more apprenticeship places by 2015.
Mr Mowat said: “Apprenticeships work and we should do all we can to support and to increase the number of places available. The recently released figures show that this year more than twice as many people are starting apprenticeships as did so in 2005 under the last Labour Government.
“The Coalition is committed to dramatically increasing the number of apprenticeships during this Parliament and I will do everything I can to help support that.”

  1. It’s great to hear that there are apparently more apprenticeships in the area now… but there are still not enough. My son has spent a year trying to find an Electrical apprenticeship with no luck so far and most places don’t even bother replying to him. There’s one up for grabs at the moment though and apparently hundreds of hopeful youngsters are all applying for the one apprenticeship. Poor kids šŸ™
