Man hurt in road crash

POLICE at Warrington today appealed for witnesses following a road crash which left a man with serious injuries.
The incident took place at about 10.08pm on Sunday, July 17 on the A57 Sankey Way at the junction with Priestley Street and involved a collision between a green moped and a white Vauxhall Vectra.
The moped was travelling around a traffic island when an unknown vehicle suddenly changed the direction it was travelling in.
As a result, the moped rider lost control of his vehicle, skidded along the road and collided with the Vectra.
The moped rider – a 45-year-old man, from Warrington – sustained serious injuries including a fractured femur and left arm and a dislocated knee.
He was taken to Warrington Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. The Vectra driver was uninjured.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to get in touch. Officers are also urging anyone who saw the other car, which did not stop, or the identity of the driver, to come forward.
