TIM Jeffers from Winwick gained national honours with his selection for the England U16 ‘A’ Rugby Union side at the International Rugby Festival held at Wellington College in Berkshire.
Teams from France, Belgium, Canada, Scotland and two England Teams – ‘A’ and ‘B’ took part in the seven-day festival.
Tim opened his national try scoring account on his debut against Canada, a game which England won 29-12.
The next game was much harder against the French U17 first team. The game went all the way to the wire with England scoring an unconverted try at the end to run out 27-23 victors.
Tim’s third game in the all white of England was a different story. They came up against a well drilled physical Scotland U17 side with a dominant pack and lost comprehensively 35-0.
Tim is with Warrington RUFC, has previously captained Cheshire and is the first player to gain international honours from the club.
Warrington RUFC has enjoyed huge success across the age groups this season with several of their sides winning their respective league.
The U15s were crowned Lancashire champions for the second successive year and the Colts Team-U18 won their league, remaining undefeated all season.
The club is always looking for new talent and anyone interested should contact coach Steve Riley on 07733 003454.
