NEW chairman of Network Warrington is former borough councillor Maureen Banner.
She takes over from Cllr Les Hoyle, who has chaired the company for the last five years.
The former Rixton and Woolston ward councillor (pictured) said: “I am very proud and delighted to have been elected as chair and would like to thank my colleagues for their support.
“I re-join the board at an exciting and challenging time; I look forward to working as part of the team to ensure sustainability and quality of service. I would like to pay my respects and to thank Cllr Les Hoyle for his leadership over the last five years”.
Maureen Banner served as a Labour councillor from 2001 until 2008, when she retired. She served on numerous committees and outside bodies and was a member of the council’s executive board from 2002 until 2006. She is the first woman to head up the bus company.
Network Warrington managing director David Squire: “We are delighted to welcome Maureen to the board. She brings with her a strong background, having held a seat on our board previously and has held a number of board posts with organisations in the area”.
