A WARRINGTON student is celebrating after winning a national competition for trainee plumbers.
Warrington Collegiate student Kristian Poyner, 21, (pictured) of Higher Whitley, won the North West heat of the competition in March and earned a place in the national final.
At the London final the six contestants were given two days to complete a plumbing installation.
Kristian’s skills earned him the UK Plumber of the Year award.
He said: “It was really nerve racking completing the challenge in the allocated time and working against the best plumbers in the country, but I’m proud that I was able to prove my skills and work to a professional standard.”
Collegiate curriculum manager Phil Walsh said: “We’re incredibly proud of Kristian. It is a huge achievement to win a prestigious national competition at such a young age and we’re thrilled for him. He has worked hard to develop his technical knowledge and is at the level of an industry professional.”
