Artists wanted for BIG picture

ABOUT 50 local artists are needed to help recreate a giant replica of a 125-years-old painting as part of Lymm Festival.
This year’s BIG Picture will be unveiled as usual at the Lymm Festival Street Fun and Food Fest on June 23.
One of the organisers, Jackie Marshall said: “Tate Britain has kindly given us permission to make a giant copy of a beautiful painting called ‘Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose’ painted by John Singer Sargent about 125 years ago.
“Apparently the title was lifted from the light-hearted lyrics of a popular song at the time. The painting depicts two young girls called Dolly and Polly, lighting paper lanterns in a pretty garden at dusk. You can almost smell the fragrance of the lilies!”
Organisers are looking for artists to help create the enormous painting. Entry forms are available via the Lymm Festival website and at Harrison Business Supplies, Rushgreen Service Station and Lymm Library.
