Wizards eager to bounce back

WARRINGTON Wizards will be hoping to bounce back from a disappointing 38-30 opening day defeat in South Wales against league newcomers Valley Cougars when they entertain Featherstone Lions at Wilderspool Stadium this Saturday, kick off 5.00pm.
The Wizards will be eager to bounce back in the defence of their The Co-operative Rugby League Conference National title, as they take to the field against a Featherstone side who will be playing their first game of the season.
Wizards Assistant Coach Mike Grady said, “We are obviously very disappointed to have suffered an opening day defeat but we only have ourselves to blame. Our silly mistakes cost us dearly but you cannot take anything away from the Cougars who stuck to their gameplan and it paid off. We missed six of our seven attempts at goal which didn’t help us but our all-round play didn’t warrant us to get the win. The only positives I can take from the game was the performance of Troy Brophy who scored a hat trick on his return to the club following a year out of the game and also the bonus point that we gained could prove to be vital come the end of the season.”
Grady added, “We have now got three games at home in succession starting with Featherstone Lions this Saturday. Games between the two sides are always very hard fought encounters and this week will be no different. We will be working very hard in training this week to put these errors right. The Lions are a big and physical side so we will need to be ready for them.”
