HOUSING chiefs are working closely with police at Warrington to try and identify arsonists who attacked a house in the town.
Golden Gates Housing Trust said, in a statement: “GGHT is aware that one of our properties was targeted in a suspected arson attack at 10.30pm on Wednesday evening (March 23).
“We are working closely with Cheshire Police to help identify the perpetrators and are offering the tenants affected our full support.”
Police believe the attack was motivated by race hate.
Rags soaked in an accelerant were set alight and pushed through the door of the property in Valiant Close, Padgate.
A couple and four children were inside the property but fortunately neighbours spotted the blaze and extinguished it before it could take hold.
Police are seeking witnesses who may have seen anything suspicious in the Padgate area on Wednesday evening.
