A LAST gasp goal from substitute Alan Collins spared Warrington Town’s blushes as they salvaged a point with a 2-2 home draw against Garforth Town.
It was certainly a case of “after the Lord Mayor’s show” for Warrington following their thrilling 3-0 victory away at Chorley last week against a team playing their fourth game in eight days!
The visitors took the lead through Ben Thornton on 19 minutes as he dribbled the ball through a static defence to beat Paul Pritchard in the Town goal.
But Warrington were back on level terms on 29 minutes when skipper Mike Tomlinson headed home. But Warrington struggled to break dwon a resolute Garforth defence with the game evenly balanced 1-1 at the break.
It was the visitors who again took the lead on 62 minutes when David Brown deflected home from a free kick leaving Pritchard rooted to the spot.
Manager Joey Dunn rung the changes bringing on Anthony Hickey for Dale Wright and Alan Collins for Gavin Salmon and it was Collins who kept his cool in stoppage time firing home in off the post to salvage a point for Town.
