STUDENTS from the Warrington campus of the University of Chester have for the second year running won an award at a prestigious BBC competition.
The four Masters students won the Production Award with their short film “Til Death Do Us Part”, at the BBC North Developing Talent Conference.
The team were Hayley Evans, Lianne McKeown, David Robinson and Joanna Jaworska.
The film was praised for its revealing interviews, intelligent production and high standard of technique. The short documentary explored the lengths pet owners go to once their beloved animal has died.
The four worked on the film as part of their Masters in TV Production and for Hayley and Lianne it was the second time their work has been shortlisted for the BBC awards.
Last year Lianne, of Bollin Drive, Lymm, was runner up in the same category for her short film “A Woman’s Best Friend.”
Hayley said: “The film was shortlisted a few months ago and I didn’t think I’d be part of a winning team for the second time in a row. We were absolutely thrilled when they announced that we’d won – it’s brilliant.”
Peter Harrop, pro-vice-chancellor and provost (Warrington), said: “The university is very proud of the outcome. Our work in creative industries is based at the Warrington campus, and there could be no better endorsement than having our students win the BBC Production Prize for two consecutive years.”
The conference was held at the University of Central Lancashire. Guest speakers Nick Park and Victoria Wood, who spoke about their career highlights.
