WARRINGTON Wizards take on professional opposition for the second year running when they travel to play Hunslet Hawks in the Carnegie Challenge Cup 3rd Round on Sunday, kick off 3.00pm at the South Leeds Stadium, Leeds.
The Wizards earned their trip to the Co-operative Championship side with a thrilling 28-20 victory over the Royal Navy in the last round and will be hoping to produce another top performance as they attempt to pull off a major shock.
Wizards Assistant Coach Mike Grady said, “We are really looking forward to playing against the Hawks; we obviously go into the game as underdogs against professional opposition, but I’m more than confident that if we play how we know we can then anything is possible on the day. Training has been going well these last few weeks, everyone in the club is up for the game and we will be going into it with nothing to lose but everything to gain. Head Coach Chris Campbell and myself took a trip to watch them at Sheffield on Sunday in the Northern Rail Cup. They are a strong team but they have their weaknesses and if we can exploit them then we are confident we won’t be far off after eighty minutes.
Grady added, “We are a very close knit bunch and this is a great reward for the hard work that everybody has put in. We will go and enjoy the day and give it our best shot.”
