Book gift for theatregoers

ANYONE lucky enough to have a ticket to comedian and writer Sarah Millican’s sell-out performance at Parr Hall could get an unexpected treat.
Saturday March 5 is the first World Book Night and Warrington library staff plan to give away more than 300 free books to people attending Sarah’s show.
This dynamic and unprecedented industry-wide initiative to celebrate adult books and reading will see one million books given away by 20,000 passionate readers to other members of the public across the UK and Ireland.
As well as at Parr Hall, books will be given away at the Warrington Wolves match the same night.
All the books were chosen based on the recommendations of authors, publishers and booksellers.
Cllr Bob Timmis, the borough council’s executive member for leisure and skills, said: “I am thrilled we are supporting World Book Night. It is a fantastic way to engage people in reading outside a library setting. This project is amazing not only because of its magnitude but also its simplicity.
“The love of reading is a wonderful gift and to give someone else a book you have chosen embodies that.”
World Book Night will take place two days after World Book Day, the established nationwide reading campaign.
