Thieves raid petrol station

THIEVES fled empty handed after a failed attempt to smash open a cash machine at Warrington.
The raid was at a petrol station in Warrington Road, Culcheth in the early hours of Saturday morning (February 19).
Police said the raiders climbed over a perimeter fence from Charnock Road, at the rear of the petrol station, and attacked the cash machine with crow bars.
They attempted to remove the machine from its housing but were unsuccessful and fled the scene.
Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the incident or anyone acting suspicious in the area at the time.
