A MAN was attacked and robbed as he rode his pedal cycle along a main road at Warrington in the early hours of the morning.
The attack took place on Winwick Road, near to the Halliwell Jones BMW dealership, at about 2.20am on Sunday (February 20).
Detectives are appealing for witnesses.
The victim, a 26-year-old local man, was cycling to work and as he passed the bus stop outside the car dealership he was confronted by a man who tried to obstruct his path.
The man chased after him, demanding that he hand over his pushbike and at the same time punching him several times to the head.
Eventually the man stole the bike and was seen to join a group of men standing at a nearby bus stop before walking off as part of the group in the direction of Ireland Street.
The victim sustained injuries to his face including swelling to his ear and damage to his teeth and mouth.
Police say offender is around 18-20 with short hair. He was dressed in dark tracksuit bottoms and a dark hooded top and spoke with a local accent.
Anyone with any information, or in particular anyone who may have been driving past at the time, should contact DC Neil Radley on 0845 458 0000.
