Book bargains
A SALE of surplus books will take place at Penketh Library, Warrington from Thursday, March 17 to Saturday, March 19, during normal library opening hours.

Hospital lottery
WINNING numbers in the weekly lottery run by the League of Friends of Warrington Hospital were 2, 3, 8 and 16 – and there were no winners. The jackpot prize will be rolled over to next week but a consolation prize of £25 was awarded to a member of hospital staff.

Jazz singer
LOCAL jazz singer Ailsa is performing at Shelly’s Restaurant, Bold Street, Warrington on Friday, February 25 when a gourmet dinner will be served.

Parish makeover
WARRINGTON Borough Council’s “Look of the Borough” team will be moving into Grappenhall and Thelwall on March 21 for six weeks during which they will tidy up grot spots, clear road gullies and generally improve the local environment.

Promoting sport
PARALYMPIC hopeful Adrian Derbyshire, from Warrington, helped promote the 2012 Paralympic Games when he visit a supermarket in, Woolton, Liverpool. The double gold metal winning wheelchair fencer chatted with customers and took a turn on the checkout.

PLANS for a single story rear extension at a house in Sandfield Crescent, Glazebury, Warrington, have been
given the go-ahead by borough planners.
