A RECORD-breaking £11,722 has been raised by Glazebury’s Bents Garden and Home for its charity of the year.
The money was presented to Ronald McDonald House at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, which provides care and support to families with children at the Liverpool hospital.
Bents invited VIP family of the year, Rebecca and Iain Jenkinson and their triplets Gabriella, Zachary and Alexander, to the centre to meet Jan Thomas, director of Ronald McDonald House, together with representatives of Bents’ new charity of the year, Macmillan Cancer Support.
Managing director Matthew Bent said: “We are absolutely delighted to have raised so much for the Ronald McDonald House and believe our money will be used to buy furniture for the 15 new apartments for long stay families at the house.
“A big thank you to all our customers and colleagues who have helped throughout the year to make the campaign such a success. We are now looking forward to working with Macmillan in what is their centenary year, and are keen to do just as well in 2011.”
Macmillan helps improve the lives of those affected by cancer, providing medical, practical, financial and emotional support.
Aimee Scally, the charity’s local fundraiser said: “We are celebrating our 100th birthday and we are extremely excited, and look forward to working with the Bents team to help raise hundreds and thousands of £s for people affected by cancer within the area.”
