WARRINGTON Wizards entertain the Royal Navy in the Carnegie Challenge Cup 2nd Round on Sunday afternoon, kick off 2.00pm at Wilderspool Stadium.
It promises to be yet another exciting Challenge Cup tie with the Wizards, buoyed by a convincing 44-18 win over Carluke Tigers in the first round, looking to progress through to the third round but in their way is a Royal Navy side who themselves had a fine 28-14 success over the British Police in their first round encounter.
Wizards Head Coach Chris Campbell said, “We don’t know very much about the Navy apart from the results they have had in the Challenge Cup over the past few years but we will be expecting a tough encounter as they did beat a strong British Police side in the last round and will come here very well prepared as all the forces sides do. We will prepare ourselves accordingly and make sure that we are in the best possible shape come Sunday afternoon. The lads really enjoyed getting through to play a professional side last season and are keen to repeat that feat this year.”
Campbell added, “We had a good win over Carluke without actually being at our best; it was nice to blow away the cobwebs and I am certain that we will put in a more polished all-round performance against the Navy. There isn’t much other rugby going on locally on Sunday afternoon so it would be great if we could have a large crowd cheering us on.”
