Town lose star striker

WARRINGTON Town striker Tony Evans has joined Evo-Stik Premier Division side Northwich Victoria after terms were agreed between the two clubs for his immediate release.
Northwich made a move for Evans earlier in the season which was turned down but now Warrington have reluctantly agreed to let him go.
Manager Joey Dunn said: “Evo has made no secret of his desire to play at a higher level and he is obviously a quality striker who has generated considerable interest during his time at Warrington.
“It is disappointing to lose him at this stage of the season but there is little point in standing in a players way if they have decided it is time to move on.”
Evans joined Town in September 2009 making a goalscoring debut at Leigh Genesis in the League Challenge Cup, hitting the back of the net after just one minute!
He made 33 starts for Warrington during the 2009/2010 season, scoring 12 goals.
During the summer, N Power League One side Dagenham & Redbridge offered Evans the chance of a professional trial and with the blessing of manager Joey Dunn, he played a number of pre-season fixtures down south for the Daggers who later released him.
On his return to Warrington, he was firing on all cylinders, hitting 2 hat-tricks against Lancaster City (Away) and Harrogate Railway Athletic (Home).
He was then hampered by injury after being carried off in the FA Cup tie with Bamber Bridge at Cantilever Park at the end of September, and made a 4 game return before, again being out injured over Christmas.
This season Evans made 16 starts with 5 appearances coming from the bench, scoring 11 goals.
Everyone at Warrington Town wishes Tony Evans the very best of luck with Northwich Victoria and hope to be playing against him next season in the Evo-Stik Premier Division!
Meanwhile Warrington Towen are in action at Cantilever Park tonight against fellow play-off contenders Curzon Ashton, kick off 7.45pm.
