MP HELEN Jones has called on the Government to re-think its plans to cut police funding in Cheshire by more than £20 million.
The Warrington North MP says that more than 150 police officers could be taken off the streets over the next four years.
She said: “”This Government is gambling with the safety of communities in Warrington by slashing the police’s funding by over £20 million in the next two years and possibly by as much as £36.5 million over the next four years.
“There is no way that taking over 150 officers and a significant number of Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) off the streets won’t have an impact on the level of crime in Warrington.”
“Crime has fallen by over a third in the last decade and this Government is ignoring the fact that it has been achieved thanks to investment from a Labour Government that provided the police with resources they needed to bring crime down.”
“It’s time for the Conservative-led Government to rethink this gamble and I will continue to scrutinise the effects of these disastrous cuts.”

I wonder why that money needs saving? Perhaps the Jones woman could remind us and at the same time come up with an alternative area to make savings.
Note the word COULD – Typical Helen Jones not got a clue. That what you get with Labour. Heaven help this town if they control the council.
The National picture is hurting many and people can have their say at the General election but in 93 days time if – Cllr O’ Neill is leader of the Council can the last person leaving please turn the lights out. DOES WARRINGTON WANT LABOUR TO RUN WARRINGTON HOW THEY RAN THE COUNTRY?????
I think most people in Warrington could come up with alternative areas to make savings! What about stop wasting money on ‘toys for the boys’ Ipads etc etc. and stop wasting hundreds of thousands on consultants fees for projects that are neither needed or wanted….such as the proposed give-away of Walton Park etc etc.
DO THE PEOPLE WANT THE LIB/CONS TO RUN THE COUNTRY IN THE SAME WAY THEY RAN WARRINGTON? Under the Lib/Con alliance Warrington achieved the grand title of WORST TOWN IN BRITAIN!!!!

Alternative – when she was in the Gov she never did a thing Warrington suffered with funding and we had two Labour MP’s then – One Alternative is for Warrington North to wake and vote her out and all its sitting Labour Councillors
