ART works by youngsters from Warrington will be used to brighten up the reception area of one of the town’s prestigious business premises.
Almost 300 entries were received when Birchwood schools were invited to take part in an art competition organised by NDA Properties Ltd in conjunction with Warrington Borough Council.
The Mayor of Warrington Cllr John Joyce will present each of two main winners with £500 for school equipment and a digital camera. Winners will be announced at a ceremony in Hinton House, Birchwood Park Avenue, today (Thursday).
Winners will see their work enlarged and printed onto canvas for permanent display at Hinton House, and their schools will receive a copy of their pictures mounted on glass.
All entrants received artists’ materials. The 22 best entries will receive cameras and have their work displayed at the venue.
Each of the four schools – Gorse Covert Primary, Birchwood CE Primary, Fox Wood School and Birchwood High – have already received 50 free calendars of their art work, to be sold for school fund-raising.
David Atkinson, head of NDA Properties Ltd, said: “We were undertaking a refurbishment programme and wanted a vibrant, welcoming reception area. The art competition gave us a chance to involve the community and showcase the talents of our local schoolchildren – while adding a really fresh touch to the décor.”
