Village to get a facelift

STOCKTON Heath will be given a facelift by a team of workers in the village from March 21.
The parish council heard the village had been chosen for a “Look of the Borough” project by the borough council.
Workers from the council’s environmental and highways maintenance teams will work on improvements to the village for a six week period. Labour will be provided but any materials, such as paint, will have to be paid for by the parish council.
Officers from the programme have been given a list of possible projects, compiled by parish council members.
Work is expected to include painting railings in Victoria Square and Walton Road, repairing damage to pavements caused by tree roots, removing graffiti, cleaning street signs and repairing deep potholes.
Improvements carried out by the three-man team may also include work at Alexandra Park and Ackers Pit.
Members have compiled a long list of suggested work projects, and are to prioritise the projects for the team.
