Support available for families

PARENTS and carers at Warrington are being urged to take advantage of free school meals and nursery places.
The borough council is reminding families that support is available and is doing everything possible to ease some of the financial burden of raising children.
Pupils in full-time attendance at school, whose parents receive certain types of support or benefits are eligible for free school meals, and it’s easy to apply.
All they have to do iscomplete an application form and return to children and young people’s services with proof of eligibility.
Free Early Years Entitlement (FEYE) is also available to all three and four year old children from the first term after their third birthday. It means that young children are entitled to a free place at certain nurseries and pre-schools and the entitlement covers the cost.
Kath O’Dwyer, (pictured) executive director of children and young people’s services, said: “It is more important than ever for us to make sure families get all the financial support available to them. If you are entitled to help please make sure you get it.”
Application forms for free school meals can be picked up at schools or from New Town House, Buttermarket Street, Warrington (Telephone 01925 442938).
