MP welcomes boost for veterans

WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones has welcomed news that the Big Lottery Fund’s “Heroes Return” programme has extended its deadline for applications to the end of the month.
The “Heroes Return 2” programme provides funding for World War II veterans that saw active service to take part in commemorative visits to mark the anniversary of events that led to the end of the war.
War widows and widowers of veterans are also eligible for funding and carers and spouses can receive funding to travel with veterans. Grants of between £150 and £5,500 are available.
The MP (pictured) said: “I am proud to support the ‘Heroes Return’ programme and I am pleased that the Big Lottery Fund has decided to extend the programme for another year. Some 50,000 people have benefited from the grants offered by the scheme and I would encourage any Warrington veterans to take up the opportunity to travel to commemorative events.”
More information can be obtained from the “Heroes Return” helpline on 0845 0000 121 or email [email protected] or visit www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/heroesreturn
