IT came as a big surprise for veteran councillor Dot Edwards when she attended the usual monthly meeting of Appleton Parish Council.
Chairman Brian Axcell presented her with a bouquet before the meeting started – to mark her 25 years continuous service on the council.
Dot, from Appleton Thorn, said: “I had no idea it was 25 years – it doesn’t seem that long.
“But I have enjoyed the work – it is very rewarding.”
Clerk Peter Briggs had hidden Dot’s bouquet behind a curtain to make sure the presentation came as a surprise.
